Can I apply for both the Energy Assistance and Weatherization Assistance programs?
Yes, you can. However, the Weatherization Assistance program will likely have a longer waiting period due to the limitations on the number of households we can serve each year.

Do I need to apply every year, or just once?
For the Energy Assistance Program, you need to apply every year. Due to the nature of the home repairs of the Weatherization Assistance Program, household participation is more limited, to once every five years (or longer).

I live in an apartment. Can I apply?
Yes, you can. People who live in single family homes, apartments, townhomes, condominiums, and mobile homes can apply.

I rent a house. Can I apply?
Yes, you can.

How long do I have to wait to find out if I'm approved?
It varies, depending on the program for which you are applying. Typical waiting periods for the Energy Assistance Program are approximately thirty (30) days unless extraordinary circumstances exist. The approval process for the Weatherization Assistance Program typically takes 90-days.

Is there a waiting list for the Weatherization program?
Depending on where you live in Nevada, there may be a waiting list for the Weatherization program. There is not a waiting list for the Energy Assistance Program.

Is anyone given preferential treatment?
Yes. For the Weatherization Assistance Program, households with adults over the age of 60, households with children under the age of six, and people with disabilities are given priority.

Do they send the payment to me?
The Energy Assistance Payments are sent directly to your energy provider, and show up on your bill as a credit. In the Weatherization Assistance Program, no payments are made; our providers will make the necessary improvements to your home.
